My honest college experience so far

Hey, guys welcome to this blog. If you don't know me I am Soumyadeep Dutta I mostly go by Soum. I am a 1st-year BSc Computer Science Major student studying here at Gurucharan College, Assam. Well, our classes started last year Mid November. To be honest, since this is a government college we can't expect much from it but we still it has organized some amazing events. Initially, I was focused on college education and understood how college attendance and other stuff works(which includes mass bunks too :P). After 2-3 months I got clarity on what I wanted from this college and it was clear that I want to network with amazing people, attend events, and just want the exposure that will lead to new experiences. I took part in a Science and Technology exhibition where we developed and presented a mobile app that tracks and maintains attendance and also had other features. That event was amazing and I got to meet many new people, my communication skills improved, and many more. Our team even got a contract from a University after they saw the design and the app functioning so that was also cool. We didn't win but we got a consolation medal for our app and also a participation certificate.

After that event was done I was happy because these all things were very new to me and also I found it very fascinating. I then gave my 1st Sem exams which went well except for the Statistics paper(it was hard). Then after the exams, we had another event where we get to meet the waterman of India Shri Rajendra Singh and there we interacted with him and learned a lot about other things as well. So that was also a good event which we had.

Another memorable event was a seminar where the MP visited the college and influenced us for startups. So that was also a pretty good event.

So those were all the good events and things that had happened to me. However, there were also many bad experiences I had so far. Firstly, the College faculties are not good. They are not passionate enough and I guess this is normal in many colleges. Secondly, attendance is a big issue here. The college clearly never states the attendance criteria which leads to confusion among students. I know a few mates who never attended college but got 92 percent attendance and also mates who attended college every day got the same. So this kinda sucks. These are a few issues that I am finding very annoying to deal with. I won't complain much whatever this college is providing is still decent I will say. I have 2 years left here and I am very excited about that as well. My goal for the rest of the college year is to make myself capable enough as a student and open more opportunities. If you have any advice for me feel free to dm me on my Twitter handle. If you like this blog you can share it as well. I will really appreciate it :)
